The number of visitors, on what are becoming traditional Port of Koper events, is rising every year as well as the Koper port cargo throughput does. At the event were also present  representatives of Koper’s port community, especially forwarders and agents – an indispensable link between the port and clients.

We presented this year’s biggest achievements, ongoing investments and ambitious plans for the future of our port. Austria and Slovakia are among the most important foreign markets for Port of Koper, furthermore, Austria has also chosen Koper for their first port for overseas import/export. “Last year we have handled almost 6 million tons of various cargo for Austria and some 1,5 million tons for Slovakia. This year’s statistics shows we will exceed these numbers and with new investments to container terminal we will offer even better and competitive service to our distinguished partners,” explained Dragomir Matić, president of the management board.

Container traffic for both countries through Koper is growing and we plan to expand this segment in the future with full speed. Though for Austria the dominant cargo group remains dry bulk, while Slovakia’s demand is showing in increasing number of handled vehicles and new dry bulk volumes, too.
