The ship guide contains all the basic information that the ships need to enter or leave the Port of Koper.

3. Handling services at the Port of Koper
Handling and other services are performed by Luka Koper d.d.
Orders are to be transmitted by 10.30 at the latest, for the following business day.
Orders for Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays have to be transmitted during the last business day before.
Orders are made via a computer system.

4. Ship arrival announcement
A ship should be announced 7, 3 and 2 days before its arrival to the port.
Confirmation of the expected time of arrival 24 hours in advance is compulsory.

Ships carrying dangerous cargo have to confirm their arrival 48 hours before the expected arrival to the ports security officer and to the Maritime Directorate of the Republic of Slovenia (Tel.: + 386 5 66 32 106 (24 hours); MMSI 002780200).

Bill of Lading |
The ship has to have a health certificate for the crew. In case any suspicion of illness may exist, the commander of the ship has to notify a competent authority via an agent.
The number of copies of the documents above depends on the needs and requirements of the agent and on the possible additional inspection.

6. Access
Navigational route to enter the port of Koper is marked by an illuminated floating buoy (long white flash 10 sec), positioned at 45°33,9'N and 013°43,3'E.

7. Anchorage
Sea depth at anchorages is from 17 to 19 m, with a sandy bottom.
Safe berth in case of the southeastern wind is near the Viližan cape and in case of northeastern winds near Debeli Rtič.

8. Pilotage
Pilotage is obligatory for the ships of over 500 BT.
Pilots are available at the VHF channel 8 (24 hours a day). Final confirmation has to be sent via an agent or via telex 24 hours before the arrival.
It is the captains duty to communicate the ships readiness to depart immediately before the departure to the VHF channel 8 or to the telephone number: (05) 63 00 160.
The pilot boards the ship either before the ports entrance, or at the entrance to the access channels, or at the anchorage (usually 1 NM west from the safe way buoy).
The Piloti Koper, d.o.o, performs pilotage services at the port of Koper.

10. Tide
The average tide is 1.1 m; water density is 1,025 kg/dm3 (it can vary with respect to the weather to up to 1,015 kg/dm3).
The prevalent types of wind in winter are NNE and SSE, and in the summer NW.

11. Restrictions
Entrance/exit
Ships can enter the port of Koper day and night.
In case of poor visibility (less than 400 m) or in case of wind power over 4Bf, the ships carrying dangerous cargo are not allowed to enter.

Tankers
1. Oil-derivative berths
Entrance allowed 24 hours a day, except in case of poor visibility and possible winds (see Restrictions).
The pier is illuminated. The maximum allowed draft is 12.5 m. The pier is equipped with 2 x 10" pumping arms (petrol) and 1 x 12" arm (diesel). Pollution protection area is set up by the Luka Koper INPO, d.o.o..
2. Chemicals terminal
Entrance allowed 24 hours a day, except in case of poor visibility and possible winds (see Restrictions).
The pier is illuminated. The maximum allowed draft is 11 m. Pollution protection area is set up by the Luka Koper INPO, d.o.o.

12. Tugboats
The towage service is performed according to the Tariff of towage of vessels.
There are always three tugboats available at the port (2 x 1,472 kW, 1 x 3,040 kW). Additional tugboats have to be ordered specially.
The company performing towage service is Adria Tow, d.o.o.

13. Accidents or security incidents
If you need medical assistance in case of an accident or other incident, call the security centre of the Port of Koper, telephone number: +386 05 66 56 950.
A Mariner clinic is available in Koper, which provides medical assistance. Medical care and hospitalisation are provided at the General Hospital Izola (z km).

14. Repairs and dry docks
Minor ship repairs are possible at the port of Koper.
Shipyard and floating dock for the ship up to 20,000 BT (165m x 23m) are located in Izola (2 Nm from Koper).
Container repairs are carried out at the port of Koper.

15. Customs restriction for the crew members
Each crew member is allowed to possess 200 cigarettes, 1 litre of spirit drink and a reasonable quantity of wine.

16. Exit to the shore
Permission to exit to the shore and to the city is granted by the Marine police.

18. Seamans club
Koper does not have a Seamans club.
Various free-time activities can be organized by the Olmar Oskrba ladij (Olmar ship supply).

19. Environment management
Delivering the waste
Delivering the waste is obligatory and is performed daily during the regular working hours between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. This service is provided by the company Luka Koper INPO, d.o.o..

Sludge waters
Removal of sludge waters from the ships is carried out by the company Luka Koper INPO, d.o.o.. in accordance with the price list and the conditions PRICES AND CONDITIONS for removal and destruction of sludge waters and oily waters, also those with sludge.
In case of pollution
Any kind of pollution has to be reported to the security centre of the port of Koper, telephone number + 386 5 665 69 50 and to the Maritime Directorate of the Republic of Slovenia. The costs of removal, cleaning, work, fines, etc. have to be paid before the departure of the ship.

20. Disinfection, disinsection, deratisation
Supplier of services of disinsection, disinfection and deratisation is DDD d.o.o.

21. Drinking water supply
The drinking water supply option is provided on every pier by the company Luka Koper INPO, d.o.o..
Delivery at the berth is possible with the tugboats of the company Adria Tow, d.o.o. (50 t).

22. Ship fuel supply
Supply of all kinds of fuels and lubricants is possible by barge or lorries. The provider of this service is the company OMV.
