Mr. Marjan Babič, MSc, Member of the Management Board
Mr. Marjan Babič was born on 30 September 1967 in Koper. After finishing the Secondary School of Pedagogics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Koper and his obligatory military service, he enrolled in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana, where he graduated in 1992.
Immediately after that he was employed as a trainee at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Slovenia in Ljubljana. At the same time he received an invitation from the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana to continue his studies and a year later he started working there as a young researcher. There he continued his post-graduate studies and in 1995 obtained a Master's degree in economy.
Following his Master's studies he joined Luka Koper, working first as an expert on analyses and development. Soon he became an advisor to the CEO and in 1999 took over the management of the Controlling Department. From 2001 to 2005 he carried on the function of the Assistant Chief Executive Officer in charge of economics and finance, than acted for few months for the Chief Executive Officer and later the same year appointed member of the Management Board.
As an assistant he co-operates in the pedagogical process at the Faculty of Management in Koper, lecturing on Capital Ties and Company Restructuring, and also presents papers at expert and scientific conferences. In 1996 he participated in the expert group for preparing the Resolution on traffic policy of the Republic of Slovenia.
He sits on the Supervisory Board of Banka Koper, d.d. and is the Chairman of the Company Meeting of the subsidiary Pristan, d.o.o. He is also a member of Managers' Association and of the Association of Supervisory Boards Members.
He is married and father to a daughter and a son.
At its 12th session, of the 6th June 2006, the Supervisory Board of Luka Koper d.d. appointed Marjan Babič as a member of the Luka Koper Management Board.
