On Wednesday 8th October, a painting by Slovene artist Zvest Apollonio was officially delivered to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in London. Jointly funded by Luka Koper and Splošna Plovba International Shipping and Chartering, this gift from the Republic of Slovenia will grace the IMO’s newly renovated headquarters. The painting, with its typically Istrian motif, was presented to Mr Efthimios Mitropoulos, Secretary General of the IMO, by Slovene Ambassador Iztok Mirošič and Marjan Babič, member of Luka Koper Management Board.

As a specialised maritime agency, the IMO was founded by the United Nations to improve international co-operation concerning safety at sea and prevent marine pollution. Slovenia has been its full member since 10th February 1993.
