The delegation with its 16 members, among which there were representatives of the Reiffeisen bank with the general director dr. Scharinger and journalists of the most important Austrian media, was welcomed by Mr. Marjan Babič, interim CEO and Mr. Vitomir Mavrič, deputy CEO in Luka Koper.
The Austrian market and the Upper Austria are of a vital importance for Luka Koper. The Port of Koper on the other hand is one of the most important ports for the Austrian oversees traffic.
Facing a constant growth of the throughput and an increasing cooperation with Austrian partners, also by improving a net of block train connections (for example the last year introduced block train connection between Koper and Graz) specially after the entrance of Slovenia in the EU, the Austrian guests were interested in learning more about the infrastructural connection between the port and its hinterland, in particular in the direction North – South. In this contexts they expressed their apprehension about the schedule of the realization of the II railway track Koper – Divača. They said that if it is not going to be accomplished till 2012, other ports will take advantage of the growing trade and overseas traffics. The guests were interested also in knowing if the II track was an official Slovene project or only a project carried on by the Slovenian railways and Luka Koper. They were informed that the II railway track project was formally approved by the Slovenian Government.
The second visit of dr. Püringerja in Luka Koper ended in a friendly atmosphere and with the intention of improving cooperation with our company.
