EU Transport and Environment Projects Seminar


On 21st October, Luka Koper organised a conference in Portorož at which Slovene protagonists addressing transport and environmental issues in the context of common European projects could meet and establish connections. Over recent years, Luka Koper has actively participated in a number of such programmes; the company is currently actively engaged in twelve European projects and is assessing a number of others. Although Luka Koper is the only Slovene partner in projects focused on ports, others represented at the event participate in a wide range of projects which are of interest to the company. Luka Koper responded to the need for Slovene partners of all such projects establish communication that will facilitate the exchange of information as well as more efficient co-ordination in order that Slovene interests are better represented. 

The Seminar was attended by more than forty participants who are – in one way or another – involved in the common European project; in addition to a number of development-oriented companies, these representatives were drawn from faculties, institutes, ministries, agencies and other institutions in . The Seminar was held in two sections. The transport section addressed European programmes and issues in the field of Trans-European transport links, multimodal transport and logistics, whilst the environmental section dealt with environment protection programmes and topics pertaining to transport, maritime safety and alternative energy sources. Luka Koper‘s presentations of focused on such projects as SoNorA (Central Europe), Watermode (Southeastern Europe), as well as Climeport and Backgrounds (both Mediterranean) in which the company successfully participates
