Italian Minister for Transportation longs for cooperation between the ports of Koper and Trieste

The Italian Minister for Transportation Mr. Alessandro Bianchi visited Slovenia on the 21st November. After meeting his Slovenian colleague, Mr. Radovan Žerjav, he paid a visit to Luka Koper where he was received by the Members of its Management Board. Minister Bianchi expressed his congratulations at the 50th anniversary of Luka Koper and for the successful development and operations of our port.

During the day the two ministers discussed about possibilities of cooperation between the ports of Koper and Trieste. The ministers agreed to create a common operative commission which will ascertain the fields on which a fruitful cooperation is possible by keeping a healthy level of competition. In Minister's Bianchi opinion the first point of such cooperation could be joint marketing activities on the international level. Other possible fields are environmental protection, research studies, organisation of conferences. In future a letter of intent should be signed.
