Koper remains the first port for Austrian market

Every year, the Austrian transport magazine ‘’Verkehr’’ publishes an analysis of Austria’s overseas trade. The Port of Koper held the first position until 1998, when its place was taken by Rotterdam. Koper Port overtook Rotterdam again in 2010 and remained the first port for import and export of Austrian cargo also last year.

In the year 2011 we handled for Austrian market even more as for domestic, Slovenian market. In Koper we handled together in export and import direction for Slovenian market 5.264.739 tons, which is 351.206 tons less than for the Austrian market.
Traditionally Austria is the most important market for Koper Port. We handle cargo from and for Austria practically at all our terminals, but the most important are bulk cargo, dry bulk cargo, liquid cargo, containers, vehicles and general cargo.
