Korean High Delegation Visits Luka Koper

HE Kim Jae-shinDeputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea , headed a Korean delegation to Koper. The free-trade agreement between the EU and anticipates growing trade flows, thus the delegation was most interested in the organisation and work in the port. President of the Luka Koper Management Board, Mr Gregor Veselko, presented the operations of the Port of Koper and plans for its future development.

East Asian trade is constantly increasing, and the Republic of Korea is a particularly important market for Luka Koper; Korean container freight amounted to 67,000 TEUs in 2010, whilst overall cargo throughput stood at 845,000 tonnes. The major portion of Korean exports through Koper encompass vehicles, car parts and rolled steel, with timber and foodstuffs being shipped in the opposite direction.
