New EU project on Mediterranean urban ports


On the 13th of July 2010 the kick off meeting of the European project Porta took place in Valencia. The project »Port's as a gateway for access inner regions« with the acronym Porta was selected this year at the second call of the program Med. The lead partner is the Valencian training and development agency Feports, partners are the Port authorities of Catania, Piraeus, Alicante, Luka Koper, the University of Catania and the Chamber of commerce of Marseille.

The project aims to define and implement common strategies and integrated transport/land use planning procedures for increasing the role of ports as strategic key actors of the maritime and logistics development and as a gateway to access the inner regions. The project is co-financed by the ERDF.
