On the Road to an Energy-Efficient Port


On 12th December 2013, the Day of Energy Efficiency in the Port, organised by Luka Koper d.d. within the Greencranes and Greenberth projects, was held in Portorož. 
Over 70 participants were presented the plan and the implementation of a pilot project on monitoring the energy consumption at the Port of Koper's Container Terminal. The presentation was followed by a tour of the location and the machinery now fitted with new monitors. 

Upon this occasion, the President of Luka Koper's Management Board Mr Gašpar Gašpar Mišič commented that the field of energy efficiency is a challenge for the company because it anticipates the implementation of changes and measures that will help reduce both energy costs as well as the greenhouse gas emissions. 
The pilot project was developed within the Greencranes European project (www.greencranes.eu) selected at the call for applications of the TEN-T programme co-funded by the European Union in the amount of fifty percent. The implementation witnessed the participation of several companies; in addition to Luka Koper also the project partners Konecranes and Rina Spa as well as the Slovenian companies ENEKOM d.o.o., Atlan d.o.o., Navtic Service d.o.o. and Luka Koper INPO d.o.o.
