One millionth cubic meter of timber in Luka Koper

07.12.2007

Timber is a cargo with a long tradition in the Port of Koper and has been handled from the very beginning of the activity of the port. Mild mediterranean climate enables natural drying of the timber whilst stored and therefore a gain on quality.

Timber throughput on the Timber terminal has risen in the last years and in the period from January to early December 2007 a singular record was set – the maritime traffic reached one million cubic meters of timber. On annual level the timber handling contributes about 700,000 tonnes or 5% of total maritime throughput.
