During their recent visit to Iran the President of the Management Board of Luka Koper, Mr. Robert Časar and his Deputy, Mr. Aldo Babič, M.Sc. concluded some important agreements to increase traffics with the areas of Central Asia and Caspian sea. Those agreements represent a realization of what was announced already this autumn during the Iranian tour of the Port of Koper.
The Management of Luka Koper signed a letter of cooperation with the General Director of the Department of the economic zone of the Maritime Directorate Mr. Ali Mahmoodiz. The cooperation includes a common promotion on both markets, exchange of information and the introduction of a direct line between the Port of Koper and the major Iranian ports. The shipowner IRISL was present during the meeting. The Iranians are very interested to the cooperation with Luka Koper as the North European ports are quite congested, while choosing the Adriatic route will represent a saving of 6 days of navigation and also a shorter inland connection to the central European markets.

At the beginning of next year another meeting in Koper is already planned to start accomplishing the cooperation.
