On October 10 a group of economic counsellors from embassies of EU countries paid a visit to Luka Koper. The visit was part of preparation works for the Slovenian presidency of EU.
The organizer of the visit was the Portuguese Economic and commercial counsellor at diplomatic mission in Viennan. As known, Portugal currently chairs the EU.
The group of counsellors, which is aware of the role of the Port of Koper for central European countries, was interested especially in the development opportunities of Luka Koper. Mr. Marjan Babič, member of the Management Board of Luka Koper exposed the necessity to modernize railway infrastructure, the importance of the Short Sea Shipping concept and the approval of the State's development regulation plan, which is the basic national document for the development of the Port of Koper. The counsellors were interested in Luka Koper's attitude towards the environment, but also in current topics as the possibility to cooperate with German railways and perspectives for greater cooperation between northern Adriatic ports.
