Visit of the Slovakian Minister of Transportation

On the 28th January the Slovakian Minister of Transportation, Mr. Lubomir Važny, paid a visit at Luka Koper. Koper is among the preference ports for Slovakia and thus an important partner. The maritime traffic for the Slovakian market surpassed 700,000 tones of cargo in 2007, mainly consisting of containers, finished vehicles, dry bulk and conventional cargo which in total represents 4% of the total throughput of Luka Koper. »I saw with my own eyes there are opportunities to strengthen our cooperation. Slovakian economy is quickly developing; there are lot of foreign investments, especially in the automotive sector. I'm glad to hear that Luka Koper is planning  new capacity increase projects and that some of them are already in full swing« said the Minister after the boat sightseeing of the port. The Slovakian minister also pointed out the railway infrastructure problems – he previously discussed about this issue with his Slovenian colleague, Mr. Radovan Žerjal.
The Slovakian minister also showed interest in the European distribution centre in Sežana and added that currently three minor logistics centres are being build in Slovakia as well.
