At the Port of Koper, we also adapted to the new market and operational circumstances, maintaining all three direct container services from the Far East and taking advantage of new business opportunities in various service areas during this time. Total maritime throughput reached 23 million tons of goods last year, which is a 3 percent increase compared to 2023.

At the Container Terminal, we exceeded 1.13 million TEUs, setting a new absolute record and closing the calendar year above estimated volumes. New business related to planned construction and the equipping of new production facilities or factories in our hinterland markets also contributed to stable container throughput. As early as November, we achieved an absolute record at the Liquid Cargo Terminal and exceeded expectations in bulk cargo.

In the diverse segment of general cargo, we recorded growth, primarily due to steel products and timber. With 125,327 visitors, we also set a new record at the Passenger Terminal in early November. The throughput of cars was lower by 3 percent last year, mainly due to delays in ship arrivals in the first part of the year. Nevertheless, we managed to partly compensate the volumes in the second half of the year, mainly through new business with new destinations – not only for cars, but also for commercial vehicles, machinery, and other types of cargo. In total, 1,798 ships berthed at the port last year, along with 20,469 trains and 453,993 trucks passing through.

According to preliminary and unaudited data, Luka Koper d.d. achieved net sales revenues of 326 million euros in 2024, which is a 6 percent increase compared to 2023. The revenue growth relative to 2023 is a result of higher revenues from increased maritime throughput and a greater volume of container stuffing and stripping services, as well as other additional services on goods. However, revenues from storage fees decreased due to the shortened time that containers and other goods remained in storage.

More information about the Company’s financial results will be available on February 20, 2025, when the first business report for the year 2024 will be published.
