An increasing number of cruise lines recognize Koper as an appealing destination due to its high-quality infrastructure, which at the same time offers visitors a wide range of authentic experiences. The history of cruise tourism in Koper began 20 years ago, and this very year, marking this round anniversary, a new Passenger Terminal building will be officially inaugurated.

In Miami, Slovenia is represented by delegates from the Slovenian Tourist Board, the Port of Koper, the Municipality of Koper, the agencies Atlas Express and Istranka Tours, the Portorož Tourist Association, Nomago, and the maritime agencies Centralog Tourism and Jadroagent International. To established cruise operators such as Norwegian Cruise Line, Marella Cruises, TUI Cruises, Viking Cruises, and the luxury brand Explora Journeys, they presented the many opportunities offered by Koper as a port, Slovenia as a tourist destination, and the long-term vision for the development of cruise tourism in Slovenia.

This year, Koper expects 75 cruise ship arrivals and at least 120,000 passengers. The season began as early as January and will continue through November, confirming that Koper remains an attractive year-round destination. During the successful promotion in Miami, the Slovenian team also highlighted the country’s rich cultural and natural heritage, outstanding cuisine, and opportunities for sustainable experiences through excursions into the picturesque hinterland. On the global cruise tourism map, Koper is increasingly opening Slovenia’s doors wide to visitors from around the world.
