The popular website attracts more than 10,000 visitors each year and the number is expected to grow in the years to come. The Port of Koper’s long-standing commitment to environmental responsibility, written every day by generations of dedicated employees, celebrates its 68th anniversary today.

On the revamped Living with the Port portal, first made available to the public in July 2009, content related to Luka Koper’s sustainability transition is now clearly presented and complements the legally required sustainability disclosures that we have published in our sustainability report since 2008. At the same time, the website offers a wealth of useful information for the port’s closest neighbours, as well as for anyone wishing to learn more about Luka Koper’s journey toward sustainability.

In line with ESG sustainability reporting recommendations which define environmental, social and governance aspects of operations, the portal’s content is divided into three main sections. The “Green Port” section provides a detailed overview of activities undertaken to preserve a green port. There, visitors can check real-time results of particulate matter emission measurements, noise data, sea monitoring information, and marine sediment management. The section also highlights activities aimed at preserving biodiversity, managing drinking water, improving energy efficiency, and incentives for shipping lines that demonstrate an environmentally responsible approach.

The “Social Responsibility” section is dedicated to our socially responsible practices and partnership building with employees, the local community (the Municipality of Koper and the Municipality of Ankaran), customers and suppliers, and numerous associations, federations, and other sports, cultural and humanitarian organisations supported through the Living with the Port call for proposals. Since 2013, nearly EUR 12 million has been allocated to supporting their activities. The “Governance” section covers our efforts toward transparent, responsible and compliant business operations.

Interest in guided port tours by bus has increased over the years, with tours available throughout the year to organised adult groups as well as primary and secondary school students. The booking entry point for tours is also available on the revamped portal under the “Kako obiščem pristanišče” (How to Visit the Port) section.
