During the visit, the delegation toured the container vessel CMA CGM Hermes, where discussions highlighted the strategic role of Luka Koper in strengthening French-Slovenian cooperation and in developing the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
A confirmation of the strong partnership between CMA CGM and Luka Koper was the signing of a Letter of Intent to establish a joint venture for complementary services in the automotive logistics sector. The new company will operate on a 2.7-hectare site near the port, outside the Luka Koper concession area. The objective of the cooperation is to enhance Slovenia’s role as a sustainable logistics hub in this part of Europe and, with the support of the CMA CGM Group, to effectively connect overseas markets with continental Europe through both maritime and intermodal links.
A long-standing partnership
The cooperation between Luka Koper and the shipping company CMA CGM dates back to 2003, when the carrier established its first container service at the port. Over the years, the French shipping line has become one of Luka Koper’s key partners in container operations, today accounting for approximately one quarter of all container throughput at the Container Terminal. CMA CGM has also been gradually expanding its presence in the maritime transport of vehicles and related logistics services, further strengthening the long-term partnership between the two companies.
