The project addresses the construction of a new Safe and Secure Truck Parking Area (SSTPA) located on the Slovenian Motorway A1 connecting to the core Port of Koper at the cross-roads of the Baltic-Adriatic and Mediterranean Corridors. The objective of the project is to build a new Safe and Secure Truck Parking Area in compliance with the “Gold” level EU Parking Standard provided by the European Commission’s study on Safe and Secure Parking Places for Trucks (MOVE/C1/2017-500) and with the Directive 2010/40/EU and the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 885/2013 with regard to the provision of information services for safe and secure parking places for trucks and commercial vehicles. To deliver on the objective, the project covers the construction of the SSTPA in an area of 58,000 m2 with 203 parking spaces for Heavy Good Vehicles (HGV), including seven for vehicles carrying dangerous goods (as per the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR). The project also addresses the implementation of the security and service measures. The project will deliver benefits for freight transport and an enhanced service quality for the haulage industry along the Baltic-Adriatic and Mediterranean Corridors. It will also reduce freight traffic in the City of Koper as well as improve traffic safety.
