The Port of Koper, as the leading partner, successfully applied in a consortium with the public companies Energetika Ljubljana, d.o.o. and Ljubljanski potniški promet, d.o.o. to the call for co-financing of alternative fuel infrastructure under CEF AFIF (Connecting Europe Facility – Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Facility).
The objective of the call is to support the deployment of infrastructure for supplying alternative fuels, thereby contributing to the decarbonisation of transport across Europe. Within the GrEnEVO-Tran project, a total of EUR 10,493,370 in European funding has been secured for the implementation of investments by all partners – electric charging infrastructure, electric vehicles and machinery, and solar power plants.
The Port of Koper will install high-capacity electric charging stations intended for charging port machinery and heavy goods vehicles throughout the entire port. In addition to 107 charging points for passenger vehicles being built within the GrEn4Tran project, the GrEnEVO-Tran project envisages an additional 30 higher-capacity charging points for electric machinery and 23 connection points with two connectors each for eRTG cranes. The co-financing will also cover the purchase of electric port machinery (electric forklifts, electric terminal tractors, and eRTGs), as well as three solar power plants – on rooftops of warehouse 54, warehouse 33, and on the canopy for freight forwarders at truck terminal.
For these investments, the Port of Koper has secured EUR 8,305,992.50 in European funding. The investments are co-financed at 50%. The GrEnEVO-Tran project will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint, decreasing the transport sector’s dependence on fossil fuels, and ensuring further environmentally friendly development.
Project duration: 11 June 2025 – 10 September 2028
