“Our success is based on a clear vision of development, many years of experience and knowledge, and, above all, an extremely hard-working, reliable, and skilled team of employees. It is thanks to them that we are recognised worldwide for our excellent service and wide range of additional services, which we constantly adapt to the needs of the market and our business partners and customers,” said Nevenka Kržan, President of the Management Board of Luka Koper, adding that this was the reason behind the decision to establish Avtoservis Koper in 1995.

Rene Eisbrich, director of Frikus Transportlogistik, a company that, together with Luka Koper, d.d., is co-owner of Avtoservis Koper, also congratulated those gathered on the anniversary: “30 years of shared successes and achievements, 30 years of dedication, reliability and strong partnerships. This anniversary is not just a number, but rather a symbol of perseverance and trust. The key advantages of the company, which has been in existence for a full 30 years, are its strategic location, exceptional team of experts, and close cooperation with business partners. Sincere congratulations on your anniversary.”

The event was also attended by Thomas Baumgartner, Executive Director of the Lagermax Group, who took guests back to the time when the Austrian logistics company first became part of the Avtoservis story. At that time, the majority of automotive cargo travelled north, but in the last decade, the southern transport route through Koper has undergone significant development, mainly due to the knowledge, quality service, and people that were and still are an important part of this success story.

The Car and RO-RO Terminal is considered one of the largest and most modern in the Mediterranean, and ranks among the four most successful in Europe in terms of vehicle transhipment. Avtoservis Koper, which offers comprehensive vehicle servicing to its customers and business partners, is an important part of this terminal. I am proud to be part of a team that has been building a very special success story for years with its dedication, professionalism, and loyalty. The employees of Avtoservis are not only an important part of the company, but also a key element of logistics and vehicle services at the Port of Koper,” said Sara Morato, Director of the Car and RO-RO Terminal, at the official opening of the new Avtoservis workshop. She added that special thanks go to both owners of Avtoservis, Luka Koper, d.d. and the Austrian logistics company Frikus, as well as to all business partners.

New capacities for vehicle storage and service

With a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony, the management of Luka Koper, together with the head of the Car and RO-RO Terminal, handed over a new area that can store up to 3,500 vehicles at a time. The development of the so-called “6A cassette” area, which began last summer and was completed in early June, is one of the key achievements for the terminal. Together with the 5a cassette, which has been in use since 2023, and the 7a cassette, which will begin to be developed later this year, the Port of Koper will increase the terminal’s capacity by approximately 10,000 vehicle storage spaces. At the edge of the parking areas, we have also set up 52 loading bays for trucks and 21 parking spaces for electric vehicles with charging stations and a small service facility for resting.

The ribbon cutting also marked the opening of a new vehicle service workshop, which covers an area of just under 900 square metres. The new hall houses eight workstations where additional vehicle equipment can be installed and modified. Additional vehicle body protection services and e-vehicle software upgrades, which are rapidly growing in popularity, also offer great potential. This project also follows sustainability commitments. The building is designed to be energy efficient, with the facade and roof envelope made of thermal insulation panels that ensure significant energy savings, and renewable energy sources are used for heating and cooling. In addition, a solar power plant with an installed capacity of 144 kW has been installed on the roof, which will feed the energy produced into the internal power grid of the Port of Koper.
