Transport from the port will be carried out as an oversized convoy, scheduled for late evening hours and conducted under appropriate escort. The first transport of blades is planned for the second week of April. Each convoy will consist of three trucks departing from the port via the northern bypass, proceeding from the Passenger Terminal along Kopališko nabrežje, then continuing via Ankaranska cesta and the Bertoška entry route to the motorway to Ljubljana.
Wind turbine blades are classified as so-called project cargo, which is handled at the port only occasionally. However, the number of such shipments has been increasing in recent years, primarily in light of the European Green Transition and efforts to achieve climate neutrality targets. For this reason, Luka Koper is currently implementing several investments aimed at enabling even more efficient handling of special, non-standard cargo. At the end of last year, a new mobile crane with a lifting capacity of 154 tons was acquired for this purpose, and by the end of 2026, construction of a 200-meter-long dedicated berth in the Basin II is expected to be completed.
