Today we held in the port the opening ceremony for the new RO-RO berth, completed just few weeks ago. The new dedicated berth will serve especially the Car terminal, since it’s located nearby the vast storing areas for vehicles.

The event was attended also by the Minister of Infrastructure of Slovenia, Mr. Jernej Vrtovec, who expressed support to current and future development projects and announced support for the expansion of port areas.

Luka Koper’s Car terminal is among the largest in the Mediterranean and Europe and this investment should help to maintain this leading position and competitiveness. The new berth is not the only recent investment for the automotive segment in the Port of Koper. In February we opened a new set of railway tracks for cars handling, and we are currently building a new garage for 6,000 units, which should be completed in the first quarter of 2021.

The berth can accept vessels from 100 m to 240 m of length, while the depth alongside is 10 meters. The total cost of the investment was 6 million euros, a portion was financed also from the EU project CarEsmatic.
