The world’s largest cruise ship tourism fair “Seatrade Cruise Global 2023” is taking place in Miami this week. Slovenia is represented among the 500 exhibitors, and a large part of the exhibition space belongs to Port of Koper. Every year, the industry event is attended by several participants within the field of nautical tourism – shipowners, shipyards, ports, travel and excursion organizers and representatives of local and national tourism associations. This year, Slovenia is represented by Luka Koper, the Slovenian Tourist Organization, the Municipality of Koper, the Portorož Tourist Association, Atlas Express, Jadroagent International, Nomago, Centralog and Istranka Tours.

Slovenia has been on the world map of cruising industry for many years. With good service and an interesting offer, it has a high reputation among the world’s shipping companies, which is why the demand of cruising – shipping companies to visit our country is growing. This year will bring a new record to Koper, so far 81 arrivals of passenger ships with more than 125,000 passengers have already been confirmed. Upon arrival in Koper, the tourism workers will prepare more than 20 different programs (excursions in Slovenian Istria, hikes, bicycle tours, culinary experiences and visits to Slovenian sights).

Last year, the October event “Azamara Sister Meet Koper”, where four Azamara Cruises ships met simultaneously in the same port for the first time, and it was one of the biggest challenges so far for the port and the city of Koper. “Such an important event would not have taken place without the close cooperation of all stakeholders, Port of Koper, the City of Koper, the Slovenian Tourist Board and the local shipping agent Centralog,” said Azamara representative Michael Pawlus.
