On his first official visit to the port, the Ambassador of Japan was welcomed by the President of the Management Board of the Port of Koper, Boštjan Napast, with whom a discussion was had on opportunities for expanding cooperation and the advantages for Japanese companies of using the Slovenian logistics transport route and the Port of Koper. Mr Napast also presented the port’s organisation and operations, as well as the results of the past year, and briefed our guests on the company’s key investments and development opportunities.

The Japanese market is one of the priority overseas potential markets for the Port of Koper, especially in the field of containers and vehicles. Last year, we handled just over 300,000 tonnes of various cargoes for Japan, including approximately 20,000 container units and 22,000 vehicles.
