“Twenty years is an important milestone, confirming that the strategic directions taken when the company was founded were the right ones – to create new rail connections where there were none before. This has provided the Port of Koper, and of course the Luka Koper company, with reliable rail service and further strengthened its position in the wider region,” said Nevenka Kržan, President of the Management Board of Luka Koper, on the 20th anniversary of Adria Transport. She welcomed the new acquisition and expressed her satisfaction with the company’s development, which is moving in the direction of responsible environmental management and searching for sustainable solutions.

The new locomotive, Nina, which joined the rest of the fleet in May, is the seventh in the series and the fifth electric locomotive owned by the company. She is a powerful, 19-metre-long locomotive weighing approximately 89 tonnes, capable of reaching speeds of up to 160 km/h and developing 6.4 MW of power. She is adapted for operation in Slovenia and the wider European area, which will further strengthen Adria Transport’s capabilities in international transport.

What makes Nina special is not only her advanced technology, but also her visual appearance: she is decorated with a combination of the blue of the Slovenian sea and stylised motifs of the Slovenian mountains. This design proudly illustrates the geographical diversity of Slovenia and symbolises the boundlessness of railway logistics, which connects the Slovenian port of Koper with the economic centres of Central and Eastern Europe.

This modern multi-system locomotive, like the company’s other locomotives, is a tribute to one of the company’s employees; it is named after a colleague, Nina, who contributes to the success story of Adria Transport with her work.

“Each of our locomotives is named after one of our employees as a sign of gratitude and respect for their contribution. Nina is a symbol of professionalism, reliability and dedication – values that guide us every day,” emphasised Alen Kramberger, one of the two directors of Adria Transport, at the christening ceremony. The other director, Andreas Mandl, congratulated all the employees on 20 years of successful work: “The past twenty years have literally flown by. We have already achieved many successes, and I hope there will be many more in the future.”

Adria Transport, which currently employs 48 people, is one of the key players in rail freight transport in the region.
