From practise to theory

Post-graduate students will be able to enrol in a new Sustainable Development Management study programme organised by the Koper Faculty of Management in collaboration with the Koper Faculty of Humanities and the College of Health Care in Izola. Preparation of the programme has been financed by Luka Koper which incorporated its own sustainability policy into its operations more than a decade ago. Indeed, ten years ago, Koper became the first Adriatic port to be granted ISO 14001 environmental management certification, and the company is currently undergoing final assessment in relation to its acquisition of an EMAS – European Environment Management and Audit Scheme –certificate, which to date is only held by two other ports in Europe .

Upon the presentation of the new study programme, the Faculty of Management organised a round table entitled Izhodna ali trajnostna strategija: Kje je prihodnost Slovenije? (Exit or sustainable strategy: Where is the future of ). It was moderated by Dr Roberto Biloslavo of the Koper Faculty of Management, and participants included the climatologist Dr Lučka Kajfež Bogataj, Biotechnical Faculty of the University in LjubljanaDr Anton Mlinar, Koper Science and Research Centre & Faculty of HumanitiesSebastjan ŠikLuka Koper d.d., Dr Janez Šušteršič, Koper Faculty of ManagementJurij Kobal,Oikos d.o.o. and Aleksander Batič, Institute for Social Responsibility – INTERSO.
