The total traffic in 2009 amounted to 13,143,620 tonnes of handled cargo, which is 18% down compared to 2008. However, quantities vary between terminals and the type of cargo handled. Measured in tonnes we registered better results than 2008 on the fruit terminal (+12%), liquid bulk (+20%), timber (+4%) and containers (+1%). The container terminal handled 343.165 TEUs which is 3% less compared to 2008. The biggest drop was registered on the car terminal with a 45% drop compared to 2008. The total traffic amounted to 313.679 units. Decreased global demand for energy and raw materials resulted in a minor throughput of oil derivatives (-12%), dry bulks (-18%). A substantial decrease was also in coal and iron ore handling, reaching only two-thirds of 2008 levels.
