This January Luka Koper recorded the largest ever volume of cargo for the first month of a year in the entire history of the Port of Koper .

1,506,878 tonnes of cargo passed through the port in January 2010, which was some 25 percent ahead of expectations. Although coal and iron ore volumes at the European Energy Terminal fell behind last year’s levels, throughputs of general and bulk cargos, timber, container freight, vehicles and alumina were all markedly up.

A total of 30,814 TEUs passed through the Container Terminal (a year-on rise of eleven percent), whilst the Car Terminal handled 22,672 vehicles (a four percent increase on January 2009).
